2マナの1/2バニラ・クリーチャー。「ウィニーが強い白」に在って、異端の弱さ。完全な上位互換カードを挙げれば切りが無い。
初収録のザ・ダーク当時でさえ、既にアラビアンナイトの悔悟せる鍛冶屋/Repentant Blacksmithが存在していた。そればかりか、白には1マナで1/2かつプラス能力持ちのクリーチャーすら複数いる（新星の僧侶/Nova Clericや献身的な世話人/Devoted Caretakerなど）。
- 白以外の2マナの1/2バニラを見てみると、青にヴォーデイリアの兵士/Vodalian Soldiers、アーティファクト・クリーチャーに後陣のマイア/Omega Myrがいる。もちろん、それらも全く使われていない。
- 時のらせんでタイムシフトカードとして再録。これに伴ってクリーチャー・タイプがスクワイアー(Squire)から人間・兵士へと変更された（スクワイアーは絶滅）。また、同セットにもやはり上位互換カードが存在（ベナリアの騎兵/Benalish Cavalry、タイムシフト枠のオーラトグ/Auratog）。再録はクリーチャー・タイプの整理も兼ねていたのではないだろうか。

公式のコラムPiecing Together the Timeshifted Mosaicによると、昔にもこのような弱いカードがあったことのアピールのために収録したとのこと。要するにタイムシフトの「ハズレ」、「ネタ・カード」である。
頭抜けた弱さは公式記事でもジョークのネタにされている。Shifty-Eyed Evaluationsはタイムシフトカードの評価をした記事であるが、従者の評価だけ完全なおふざけになっている。
